"Forrest Black and Amelia G . . . two people who helped to shape the Gothic scene as we know it today . . . All of Forrest and Amelia's products have the stamp of quality on them (as they are perfectionists) and if you are interested in things gothic or fetishistic, I recommend both their electronic and paper publications . . . BlueBlood magazine changed my life. It has undoubtedly changed other people's lives" - Dark Play (2001)

Amelia G edits Blue Blood's Gothic Sluts and is responsible for the selection of girls, writing, and photography on the site. Forrest Black is responsible for the look and feel and overall design and functionality of the site. They shoot as a team to photograph the spectacular original exclusive photographs you see on the site.

When Amelia was in fourth grade, her parents put a stop to the business she and her friend Shari Filler were planning when the young girls cut up a number of Shari's mom's boyfriend's magazines and glued the pages to construction paper. In college, Amelia edited Wesleyan University's notorious if short-lived adventure magazine Catharsis? - editorial motto: If it has sex and a gun in it, we will publish it. Back in 1990, when Amelia was first editing the antisocial punk rock humor zine BLT/Black Leather Times, she used to get a lot of zine mail from folks looking for a leather mag. In 1991, Forrest Black assumed the layout mantle for BLT and did such a good job that DC scenesters could not stop oohing and ahing at the results. So perhaps it was time to take on a bigger glossier project.

Blue Blood magazine followed and it was many many many years ahead of its time. It was always a struggle dealing with magazine distributors who assumed that (a) anyone with cool hair must be underage and (b) no one would be interested in this counterculture erotica stuff. But Amelia G and Forrest Black really wanted to share their aesthetic with the world. Yes, the magazine hemorrhaged money, but it was never about that. It was about the scene and the art and eroticism which came out of it. After years of Amelia G and Forrest Black working forty hour and longer weeks on Blue Blood while still holding down day jobs, Blue Blood was finally the largest circulation Gothic magazine in the world. At which point, of course, the fat cat business sharks of the magazine industry came out and took Blue Blood for just about every cent and tried to steal the title. A couple of Gothic punk entrepreneurs might not have known how not to get screwed by the businessmen, but they were going to be prying the actual title from their cold dead DIY fingers.

While a bunch of this was going on, Forrest Black and Amelia G had taken up photography in order to make Blue Blood in print more truly their vision. As they are self-taught photographers, what they do may or may not be technically correct, but nobody else comes close to them in capturing the vibrant beautiful sensuality of the underculture world. While their own magazine was in limbo, Forrest Black and Amelia G did photography for Tattoo Savage, Taboo, Ghastly, Leg World, Permission, MTV, Marquis, Playboy, Barely Legal, On Our Backs, Dirty, New Rave, New Grave, Women in Power, Juggernaut, Fetish, Extreme Fetish, Skin Two, AVN, Chic, Secret, Gothic Beauty, and others.

Amelia G also continued getting her short fiction published. Recent erotic tales have been selected for inclusion in Susie Bright's Best American Erotica, Marcy Sheiner's Best Women's Erotica, Cecilia Tan's Sexcrime, and Thomas Roche's Noirotica books. Her work is forthcoming in Best SM Erotica edited by M. Christian and Pills, Chills, Thrills and Heartache edited by Clint Catalyst and Michelle Tea. Forrest Black's print design skills evolved into web design and now he has done websites for Lexus and eTrade, as well as official sites for The Dandy Warhols, Everclear, Heart, Peggy Lee, Amy Correia, Tara MacLean, Radiohead, Kottonmouth Kings, and John Lennon (hey, he's still selling records and making web pages for dead guys is very Gothic.)

Well, Blue Blood kept its title and a new ish is in the works. However, while magazine publishing will always hold a place in the Blue Blood crew's hearts, the web has created wonderful additional opportunities to get the Blue Blood aesthetic out to the world. Blue Blood's Gothic Sluts currently showcases more than 25,000 on topic photographs. That just could never be done in a print publication. Plus, on the web, there are a lot fewer fat cat mainstream types standing between the people who create the art and the people who want to see it. And that fucking rocks.
